{"id":64,"date":"2024-06-22T10:58:37","date_gmt":"2024-06-22T16:58:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/perceptivevoter.com\/?page_id=64"},"modified":"2024-12-23T21:56:15","modified_gmt":"2024-12-24T03:56:15","slug":"media-bias-breakdown","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/perceptivevoter.com\/index.php\/media-bias-breakdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Media Bias Breakdown CNN"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>CNN Election Fraud Article<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An analysis of bias from a CNN News article on Laura Trump claiming election fraud<\/strong>.&nbsp; For a primer on news bias, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allsides.com\/media-bias\/how-to-spot-types-of-media-bias\">click here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CNN&nbsp;\u2014&nbsp;<\/strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/04\/10\/politics\/lara-trump-rnc-2020-election-fraud-claims\/index.html\">https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/04\/10\/politics\/lara-trump-rnc-2020-election-fraud-claims\/index.html<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Republican National Committee last week sent out a <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">scripted<\/mark> call to voters\u2019 phones on behalf of new co-chair Lara Trump saying Democrats committed <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">\u201cmassive fraud\u201d<\/mark> in the 2020 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Sensationalism\/Emotionalism<\/em><\/strong><em>: why add the term \u201cscripted\u201d to a recorded call that was sent out?&nbsp; Done simply to set a negative tone to the process.&nbsp; <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Spin<\/em><\/strong><em>: putting \u201cmassive fraud\u201d in parenthesis is done to indicate dishonesty, when removing the parenthesis says the same thing.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the latest example of how the RNC under the former president\u2019s daughter-in-law is <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">perpetuating lies<\/mark> about the 2020 election, even as <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">prominent Republicans<\/mark> say the party needs to look forward to win in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Opinion Statements Presented as Facts:&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong><em>CNN is telling people to believe claims of election fraud is \u201cperpetuating lies\u201d without a truthful and honest evaluation of the counter argument.&nbsp; <\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Bias by Omission &amp; Slant<\/em><\/strong><em>: \u201cprominent Republicans\u201d omits the perspective that the Republican party is moving away from this position, lead by grass roots movements. <\/em>An accurate term would be &#8220;establishment Republicans&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe all know the problems. No photo IDs, unsecured ballot drop boxes, mass mailing of ballots, and voter rolls chock full of deceased people and non-citizens are just a few examples of the massive fraud that took place,\u201d&nbsp;the RNC call said. \u201cIf Democrats have their way, your vote could be canceled out by someone who isn\u2019t even an American citizen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The claim of \u201cmassive fraud\u201d in the 2020 election marks a significant shift in messaging for the RNC because <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">lies about the 2020 election<\/mark> had not been a consistent theme in its messaging since Donald Trump left office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Opinion Statements Presented as Facts:&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong><em>re-iteration of election fraud as \u201clies\u201d without a truthful and honest evaluation of the counter argument.&nbsp; <\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the call\u2019s message is largely consistent with the views publicly espoused over the past four years by Lara Trump, who was&nbsp;elected as co-chair in early March&nbsp;as part of <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">Donald Trump\u2019s takeover of the GOP<\/mark>. Lara Trump has a long history of echoing his election fraud claims, according to a CNN KFile analysis of her past statements as a commentator and surrogate for the former president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Negativity Bias: \u201c<\/em><\/strong><em>Donald Trump\u2019s takeover of the GOP\u201d implies a top-down imposition of influence to support the narrative of Trump as a \u201cdictator\u201d.&nbsp; The popular perspective is that grass roots influence is shifting the view of the party from the bottom up by massive involvement of newcomers demanding a populist, \u201cAmerica First\u201d direction who voted out Ronna McDaniel and establishment party leaders.&nbsp; <\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure you agree with co-chair Trump that we cannot allow the chaos and questions of the 2020 election to ever happen again,\u201d said the call, which was obtained by CNN\u2019s KFile from the <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">anti-robocall<\/mark> application Nomorobo, which estimated 145,000 calls were sent with the message from April 1-7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Negativity Bias<\/em><\/strong><em>: \u201canti-robocall\u201d subtly suggests annoyance when the recipients of this call probably had agreed to receiving calls from the Republican party. <\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It comes amid&nbsp;previous CNN reporting&nbsp;about the RNC asking employees who are reapplying for their jobs whether they believe the 2020 election was stolen in an <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">apparent litmus test<\/mark> for hiring. The RNC denied any such litmus test existed.&nbsp;Lara Trump and new chair Michael Whatley&nbsp;succeeded Drew McKissick and Ronna McDaniel,&nbsp;who had earned the <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">ire of the former president<\/mark> because of his dissatisfaction with how the RNC handled claims of fraud around the 2020 election, CNN previously reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Mind Reading<\/em><\/strong><em>: this sentence gives the impression of employer coercion toward party \u201cemployees\u201d when it most likely refers to grass roots volunteer\u2019s attitude regarding whether to vote incumbent party leaders out or not. <\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Slant: <\/em><\/strong><em>\u201cire of the former president\u201d implies a top-down imposition of influence to support the narrative of Trump as a \u201cdictator\u201d. &nbsp;The popular perspective is that \u201cAmerica First\u201d newcomers have been insisting on this and Trump has become their voice.&nbsp; <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">There is no evidence of widespread fraud in the 2020 election<\/mark>, as even some state GOP&nbsp;election officials&nbsp;and former Trump Attorney General <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">William Barr have&nbsp;acknowledged<\/mark>. The former president and his supporters filed more than 60 court cases in six key battleground states following the election and&nbsp;lost&nbsp;every one of them. And, they have still <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">not brought forth any evidence<\/mark> of the rampant cheating they continue to talk about on the campaign trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Opinion Statements Presented as Facts: <\/em><\/strong><em>\u201cThere is no evidence of widespread fraud\u2026\u201d ignores the entire movement of election fraud research and claims.&nbsp; Some of the most compelling arguments are made by the movie \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/v34k7sc-2000-mules.html\">2000 Mules\u201d<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/electionevidence.com\/\">Election Evidence Project <\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Slant: <\/em><\/strong><em>\u201cWilliam Barr have acknowledged\u201d doesn\u2019t tell the rest of the story that Barr made this statement knowing that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independentsentinel.com\/bill-barr-accused-of-lying-about-investigation-of-2020-election\/\">FBI had done no examination of election fraud.<\/a>  In fact, when the US Attorney in Pennsylvania started to investigate what he determined ostensible fraud, Director Barr explicitly told him to stand down and not investigate.&nbsp; <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But in the years since the 2020 election, Lara Trump has continued to push claims of fraud. Her comments have been in line with those of her father-in-law, who\u2019s successfully <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">reshaped the GOP in his image<\/mark> and easily secured his third-straight GOP nomination this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Opinion Statements Presented as Facts: <\/em><\/strong><em>\u201creshaped the GOP in his image\u201d reinforces the posture that Trump is an \u201cauthoritarian\u201d when the popular view is the populist movement is re-shaping the republican party, and Trump is its voice.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Polling, for example, shows that a majority of GOP voters think the 2020 election result was illegitimate. A CNN poll released last September found&nbsp;that 71% of Republicans said&nbsp;President Joe Biden \u201cdid not legitimately win enough votes to win the presidency.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From November 2020 to February 2024, Lara Trump propagated the narrative of Democratic cheating in the 2020 presidential election. And even after she was elected co-chair and said claims of a stolen election are \u201cin the past,\u201d she didn\u2019t repudiate those <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">baseless accusations<\/mark>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Opinion Statements Presented as Facts: <\/em><\/strong><em>calling election fraud claims \u201cbaseless accusations\u201d without a truthful and honest evaluation of the claims, i.e. (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/electionevidence.com\/\"><em>https:\/\/electionevidence.com\/<\/em><\/a><em>).<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWell, I think we\u2019re past that. I think that\u2019s in the past. We learned a lot. Certainly, we took a lot of notes,\u201d Trump said in an&nbsp;NBC interview&nbsp;when asked whether claims of a stolen 2020 election would be the official position of the RNC in 2024. She went on to tout lawsuits across 23 states \u201cto ensure that it is harder to cheat and easier to vote,\u201d while raising questions about pandemic-era voting procedures during the 2020 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Bias by Omission: <\/em><\/strong><em>CNN calls accusations of election fraud \u201clies\u201d and \u201cbaseless\u201d but glosses over widespread lawsuits enacted because of questionable voting activities and procedures that in themselves are indications of at least potential fraud.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the same interview, Trump also added the GOP needed to \u201ctrust mail-in voting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A long history of spreading <\/strong><strong>election lies<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Opinion Statements Presented as Facts: <\/em><\/strong><em>hmmm\u2026 I\u2019m seeing a pattern here\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As&nbsp;recently as February&nbsp;2024, Lara Trump said she did not believe Biden received 81 million votes in the 2020 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDoes anyone actually believe that in 2020, 81 million people were so inspired by a guy who could only get 10 people (to attended events) \u2026that he had the most massive turnout in the history of elections?\u201d she&nbsp;said at a Trump event&nbsp;in South Carolina just days before she announced her campaign for RNC co-chair. \u201cNo, we don\u2019t believe that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On her internet show and podcast, and in public events, she often spread <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">outlandish and nonsensical<\/mark> claims about the 2020 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Sensationalism\/Emotionalism: <\/em><\/strong><em>we are asked to believe claims are \u201coutlandish and nonsensical\u201d based on the slanted arguments following:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On an episode of her show that aired on December 30, 2020, Trump agreed with her co-hosts that the election did not pass the \u201csmell test\u201d and <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">falsely suggested<\/mark> that dead voters helped Biden win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Opinion Statements Presented as Facts: <\/em><\/strong><em>while this might be hyperbole, there is troubling polling suggesting significant mail-in vote infractions that could easily been manipulated this way <a href=\"https:\/\/heartland.org\/opinion\/heartland-rasmussen-poll-one-in-five-mail-in-voters-admit-to-committing-at-least-one-kind-of-voter-fraud-during-2020-election\/\">(Click Here)<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow, I don\u2019t know if this is true, but somebody sent me this. Donald Trump got 74 million votes. There are 133 million registered voters in the United States. If every single registered voter went out and voted, which we know is basically impossible, doesn\u2019t happen, there would only be 59 million votes left for Joe Biden. So how the heck did he get 81 million votes?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The comments cite a widely debunked analysis that misrepresents the number of people eligible to vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re discriminating against all the dead people, Lara. How dare you!\u201d said one co-host.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOh yeah, that\u2019s right. That\u2019s true,\u201d she responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">CNN analysis&nbsp;previously found<\/mark> no evidence&nbsp;to support this claim, debunking the misinformation spread by Trump supporters online in the aftermath of the 2020 results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Bias by Omission: <\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;the CNN articles referenced show examples of election claims that are easy to dispute and extrapolates that to state all claims are \u201cdebunked\u201d.&nbsp; This is an example of another manipulation technique called a \u201cStraw Man Argument\u201d where you pick only examples you know you can disprove, including misrepresentations of what the other side is saying.&nbsp; For a common sense argument of the big picture <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/tucker-carlson-2020-presidential-election-voter-fraud-dead-voters\">(Click Here)<\/a> that considers inaccurate voter rolls, the practice of sending out unsolicited ballots, and indications by pollsters that there was a very high number of voters \u201cfudging\u201d the rules, it sets the table for fraud.&nbsp; To flatly assume there was \u201cno voter fraud\u201d is naive at best, and probably purposefully dishonest.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2020 election saw a record-breaking turnout, with 155 million people casting their votes, as&nbsp;reported by the US Census Bureau. This marked the highest voter participation of the 21st century, with 66.8% of eligible citizens aged 18 and older voting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later in the episode, Trump said, \u201cI think that [Democrats] know that the Republicans are not gonna let it stand. They\u2019re not gonna certify votes for Joe Biden. And it is likely that they will be voting for Donald Trump for a second term.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an episode of&nbsp;her podcast weeks&nbsp;earlier, she claimed the odds of Biden winning in swing states were \u201cone in one quadrillion to the fourth power,\u201d as mail-in ballots were counted, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">failing to cite a statistical analysis<\/mark>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Flawed Logic: <\/em><\/strong><em>this is hyperbole, a statistical analysis is sill<\/em>y. <em>The results of the 2024 election is the biggest indicator that the &#8220;extra&#8221; votes for Biden were fabricated.  <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though Biden <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">narrowly lost<\/mark> with in-person voters,&nbsp;46% of voters voted&nbsp;by mail in 2020. As votes were counted, Biden pulled ahead, according to an analysis from Pew Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Spin: <\/em><\/strong><em>Pew Research published estimates that Trump supporters voted 67% in-person compared to Biden supporters at 41% in-person<\/em>, <em>hardly &#8220;narrowly lost&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-3-color\">Though nothing was abnormal or illegal about the process<\/mark>, Lara Trump has also referred to the counting of votes nefariously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Opinion Statements Presented as Facts:<\/em><\/strong> <em>this position is only supported by omission of a counter argument.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe gotta make up so much for all the cheating,\u201d Trump&nbsp;said on her podcast&nbsp;in September 2023. \u201cWe know the Democrats love to do that. We need to go into this thing with such a big lead that they\u2019re like, \u2018oh my God, we can\u2019t do a 3:00 a.m. spike with this. We\u2019re never gonna make it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Mail-in results were Trump 32%, Biden 58%.\u00a0 Considering the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/tucker-carlson-2020-presidential-election-voter-fraud-dead-voters\">big picture argument<\/a> referenced above where mail-in ballots create the environment for fraud, and there was strong evidence from polling that \u201cfudging\u201d occurred, no wonder there are assumptions of Biden voter fraud.\u00a0 The more establishment media and political entities suppress questions and evidence, the more suspicion they create.\u00a0 That\u2019s probably why, despite being consistently and constantly told otherwise, most Americans now believe there was fraud in the 2020 election or are concerned that cheating would affect the 2024 election.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/biden_administration\/election_integrity_concerns_remain_high\">Click Here.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CNN Election Fraud Article An analysis of bias from a CNN News article on Laura Trump claiming election fraud.&nbsp; For a primer on news bias, click here.
